Sept. 11

We started the day by looking at a picture of the Amazon Forest Fire and responded to three questions:

  1. Is this a problem?
  2. Where does the problem belong on the catastrophe scale?
  3. Who's problem is it?
We added this event to our catastrophe scale. Ask your child where they think this fire belongs and why. We had a great discussion about this in class.

At the very end of the day, we looked at the world map. We were able to locate Canada and look up how many people live here. We are going to be looking at four other countries this year: Tunisia, India, Ukraine, and Peru.

Thank you to those who have returned their blue demographic forms. There are only a few that we are still waiting for. Please send those as soon as possible! Also, your child is coming home with a brochure from Child Safe Canada - there are some very interesting Fall/Winter Programs. Check it out!

We are also wondering if there is a parent who could help us this week (or early next week) with taping some art to the front of the visual journals. You will need to have your police clearance to do this but if you are interested, please email either of us. It would just be a couple of hours to help out. :)
