Thanks for all the field trip forms that are coming in. We are having a little contest to see which class can have the forms in first. WE STILL NEED AT LEAST 1 MORE VOLUNTEER PER CLASS TO BE ABLE TO MEET THE GROUP REQUIREMENTS OF THE SITE.
Yesterday Nat Geo sent us a quick building challenge to build a bridge using only paper and cup, and needing to span a gap of 15 cm.
We ended the day with a student asking, "How are bridges tested to see if they are strong enough for people and cars?" Today we read the story, 21 Elephant. A story about how they used elephants from a visiting circus to test the strength of the newly build Brooklyn Bridge.
Watch it here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgWHb5bK80M
After the story a student asked, "Why did they use elephants? Who decided that humans were more important than elephants?" We had a great discussing with students giving us their option and reasons to back up their opinion.
